"Unconditional"

They loved her

For her glowing mane of hair

That rested just beneath her shoulder blades

Her red lips and her thick lashes

That got tangled in her bangs

And in the minds of all the boys that lay at her feet

She wondered if the love was eternal or if they were lying

Like many that had come before

So she tore out her hair and ripped out her lashes

Bit her lips until they bled

And poisoned her skin with dirt

And when she asked if they still loved her

They were silent
